Welcome To Fat Cow Essentials
Prior to Covid, we were an upbeat 26 seat Oyster Bar and Steakhouse. We used amazing cuts of beef great local produce, all BC Wines and beer. We were in our own little bubble cranking out fun food in a fun environment. We were getting ready to open our second location in Abbotsford a little cafe/coffee shop something I have dreamed about since day one. I can also remember March 17th hitting us like a sack full of shit. Cafe was scheduled to open April 1st. Wedding season was just around the corner. We had, after years of struggling, hired a consultant by the name of Brad Bodnerchuck and our books and our systems were all running smoothly. It was something we weren’t used to but welcomed with open hearts, Hell.. I didn’t even have to work in the kitchen anymore because the team was crushing it.
After March 17, we will call it 2020 ad. (after disease). We were in a whirl spin. We walked away from the cafe temporarily had to lay-off nine staff and I remember staying up for two whole days straight working on www.getgroceries.ca at that time it was just fat-cow-essentials.myshopify.com lol but it was something I had never done and something I think i spent more time fixing and googling then actually getting up and running. Our Virtual grocery store went live less then a week after the COVID shut down order was released. we had items that grocery stores didn’t have we were able to support some local people who didn’t have means of getting their product to market anymore. We worked day and night on this concept and Idea of a delivered grocery store. After two weeks of running getgroceries.ca we realized we needed to open back up for to-go service. We revamped the restaurant once again and slowly started bringing in staff. As we now prepare for in dining service it again will be a new chapter in our COVID-19 story but as always we look at it with hope and inspiration as this new chapter will shape how the industry will move forward in the future and as many things in this industry needed to change now will be the time to start to make it right.

The following plan we will walk you through how we are doing everything in our power to keep our staff and guests safe and healthy during this pandemic. It will lay out how we assess the risks in our workplace. How we will implement protocols to reduce the risk to our staff and guests. How we are developing and always maintaining policies. What we have developed for communication plans and training for our staff . How we plan on monitoring our restaurant and updating the plans as needed. And finally we will be laying out and assess the risks may be faced by reopening our doors
